I would install a pneumatic shut off valve, and set it up on a timer, so you can use it as a type of valve gate. You can then use the injection machine to pull back with delay if you like.

Use of sprue break will always net a drooling. You can try setting a decompression before sprue break if your machine is so equipped, but your hot runner will still drool back.

Nozzle valve has really been the best solution.

No problem, but you may increase injection pressure a little bit as spring nozzle makes some pressure loss.
